You can use the MyLogin system to do a number of things: change your password, register your security details, create a PIN and a memorable phrase which can be used to help you recover your password and re-set your computer account.
Your user number will be a letter followed by a series of numbers. For example U1234567, T1234567, A1234567 or X1234567.
You should be able to find your user number on the front of your TUSC card. If not contact your nearest IT service desk.
You should have received your password when you pre-registered for the University. If you require a new password please contact us
You can change your password online by going to https://apps.tees.ac.uk/mylogin/
There are several ways to recover your password. If you have registered your security details (see above) then you can click on the recover your password at https://apps.tees.ac.uk/recovery.
You will be asked for your user number. After entering this a password reset link will be sent to you.
If you haven’t registered your security details you should contact the IT Service Desk who can help you.
The most common problem people have when changing their password is that the new one may not be valid. The university has several rules which need to be adhered to when changing your password. It must:
be at least 14 characters in length
not contain all or part of your first name, last name or user number
contain:
At least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
At least one lowercase letter (a-z)
At least one number (0-9)
The password can also contain an exclamation point (!), dollar sign ($), or percent (%)
The password can not contain any of the following characters:
Spaces
sterling pound (£)
ampersand (&)
less than (<)
greater than (>)
colon (:)
vertical bar (|)
must be different to your previous passwords. If you try to use a password you have used previously then it will be rejected.
If you are still having problems changing your password please contact us.
Yes. We strongly recommend that you register your security details. Doing this will allow you to recover your password yourself if you ever forget it and, if you are a student, register yourself for out of hours. You can register your security details by clicking on the Manage your security details link.
We need enough information to help us identify you and protect your computer identity. You will be asked to register:
date of birth
town of birth
a PIN number
a memorable phrase
you can also enter an alternative email address. We strongly recommend you do this as it gives us another way to communicate account details to you
You have two scenarios:
You’ve changed your password but haven’t logged out of your PC, you must do this in order to stop current applications using your old credentials for automatic access such as network folders.
You still have your original password attached to a mobile device, for example if you have work emails/calendar synced with your mobile device or use the university’s WIFI service (Eduroam). Make sure any device using your password is turned off or has the WIFI network disabled *before* you change your password, including those at home (they could still be active on your home broadband and thus connected to the University – even in standby).
Your PIN is used to improve security on certain web applications. For example, when you visit the Portal to view your personal details, and, when you log in MyAccount via the Library Catalogue.
